The Dering Arms

Drinks

The wine cellar at The Dering Arms is renowned for its quality and variety, and this is no accident! Many hours have been spent curating partnerships with the best wine merchants and discovering rare vintages at auction. Proprietor James Buss has an enthusiasm for providing the best parings from truly unique wine list and is more than happy to make recommendations that compliment your dinner choice, whether this be for a casual lunch or an extra special occasion.

The wine list is adjusted regularly, with more unusual wines from the New World being sought out to supplement the more traditional French, Italian and Spanish varieties that are perennial favourites. If you have a favourite bottle in mind, we can reserve it for you ahead of your arrival. Please remember that if you choose an older wine that needs decanting and warming, we recommend you let us know when booking so we can have it in perfect condition for you to enjoy when you sit down for your meal.

Beyond wine, The Dering Arms offers local ciders and homemade gins that are perfect in summer! For those who like a Digestive to finish their evening there is also a wide selection of Cognacs, Armagnacs, Malt Whiskys, Ports and Liqueurs available.

Location

The Dering Arms can be found in the small village of Pluckley, near to Ashford. It’s easily accessible from the M20 (junction 9) and is just one of those perfect places to stop off for something to eat or to stay the night before heading down to the Channel Tunnel.

Just a stones throw (literally!) from Pluckley station which is on the main railway line from Ramsgate to London.

It is also within easy driving distance of Leeds Castle, Sissinghurst Castle and the city of Canterbury so is the perfect country retreat to get away from it all and recharge.
